Amla Candy: The Tasty and Nutritious Treat You Should Experience
Amla Candy Recipe
Ingredients
- 10-12 fresh amlas (Indian gooseberries)
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Method
- Begin by washing and drying the amlas with a towel.
- Slice each amla thinly, discarding the seeds. Combine the amla slices, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Massage the mixture well with your hands.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 2-3 hours, during which the sugar will dissolve and the amlas will release their juices.
- Cook the mixture in a non-stick pan on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the amlas turn translucent.
- Remove from heat and spread the mixture on a greased plate or tray. Allow drying in the sun for 2-3 days until fully dry.
- Once dry, break the candy into small pieces.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to a month.

- Always use fresh, firm, smooth amlas without blemishes.
- Ensure they are thoroughly dried after washing.
